Rauli Virtanen is an award-winning foreign correspondent who has covered conflicts and major world events since the war in Vietnam and President Richard Nixon’s re-election campaign in 1972.

He was the first person to visit all the independent countries in the world, in 1988. Virtanen has lived 13 years in New York in the 70s, 80s and 90s as the U.S. correspondent for major Finnish media.

He has written seven non-fiction books, held various photo exhibitions and worked as a visiting professor of journalism at the University of Tampere.
